Though some schools sport dozens of patches, we believe to do so ruins the "magic" of traditional martial arts training;
in addition, when done to excess, it can be a hindrance to movement. Therefore, we only have two patches in Rising
Phoenix, both are handsomely designed and subtle. While student may have any number of uniforms, they are
required to have at least one school uniform. This dobok must be outfitted with all relevant patches. Should a student
desire another school uniform, they can purchase a new uniform and the necessary patches from an instructor. It is
customary at black belt level for students to have both a school uniform and a traditional (or competition) uniform. This
dobok should be pure white, with only black trim around the neck, and otherwise unmarred by patches and logos.
Positional Patches
Worn on the right shoulder, the positional patches are as follows: Head Instructor, Senior Instructor, Instructor,
Assistant Instructor, Mentor. When someone succeeds to the next position, they should replace their old patch with the
new. Patches should be placed half an inch below the seem.
Decorations
Decorations are presented with every award. They represent the student's honorary standing within the organizations.
This does not suggest that a student with three chevrons is any more senior than a student with none; it does, however,
denote a certain level of positive involvement with the organization and an abidance to the philosophies of taekwondo.
Decorations should be placed half an inch below the seem, on the left shoulder. In the case of multiple decorations,
each decoration should be affixed below the last, spaced 1/4 inches apart.
